You can’t beat the hibiscus when it comes to huge, showy blooms. Colors produced by these beauties range from salmon, red, pink, yellow and so so much more. Hummingbirds also love the nectar-rich flowers. Hibiscus is a great addition to your home and garden and we think its a great idea to have at least one.

Soil

Tropical hibiscus plants like well drained potting soil. Ensure that the plant is not packed in too tight in order to keep drainage good.

Light

Place outside in the summer months, gradually acclimating to more light. In winter, give as much direct light as possible.

Fertilizer

Fertilize in early summer with a slow release fertilizer or weekly with a liquid, blooming fertilizer.

Water

Water freely in the summer when outdoors. Make sure your pot has excellent drainage. Never let the mix become soggy. In the winter, let die almost completely before watering again.

Growth

Flowers continuously bloom in the summer, producing 5-8″ wide single or double blooms.

Pet Friendly?
