Palms are some of the most elegant and eye-catching plants you can grow in a home. It’s no wonder the Majesty Palm has exactly the name it has, thanks to its regal fronds and tall growth habit.

Light

These are considered low light plants. Parlor palms will do their best in bright, filtered sunlight. They often do well with a northern exposure.

Soil

Making sure your soil is well draining, a peat based potting mix is perfect for these palms.

Water

Like many palms, parlor palms are sensitive to overwatering. Ideally, keep moisture at an even level. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Yellow fronds will indicate the plant needs more water.

Fertilizer

Feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer once of twice during the growing season and not at all during the winter. Parlor palms are light feeders.

Growth

Parlor palms are slow growers and can take years to reach full heights. Maximum heights indoors is 2-6 feet.
