The Pindo palm is one of the most popular plants in the world, because of its stunning appearance, cold hardiness and bright yellow fruit. Its graceful crown with blue green fronds make it a great option for pool side container plantings in the summer months.

 

Soil

Pindo palms enjoy well draining soil. Ideally, a potting mix with added sand or cactus/succulent soil should be used with a pot that is well draining.

 

Light

Place your palm in a bright area near a window with plenty of sunlight.

 

Fertilizer

A palm fertilizer that has continuous release formula twice a year is suggested. Otherwise, March to October 1 tsp Epsom salts per gallon of water the first of every month, Rage 0-0-6 3rd watering of the month, March and October potache.

 

Water

When top 3 inches’ of soil is dry, it is time to water. Water deeply, saturating the soil. Allow the soil to dry between watering’s, as soggy soil may cause the lower trunk and roots to rot.

 

Growth

Slow growing. Pindo palms only grow about 12-24 inches per year. Mature plants reaching of 5-7 feet tall. This plant can live up to 80 years.
